Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reached out and supported Ashley Banjo after he was met with a flurry of criticism for Diversity’s Black Lives Matter-inspired dance on Britain’s Got Talent.
The former senior Royals reportedly called Ashley from their plush home in the Hollywood Hills earlier this summer.
Ashley initially revealed details of the call last month but his interview was re-aired on Tuesday as part of a special 2020 Lorraine round up.
Ashley, who stood in for Simon Cowell this year on BGT, said: “Harry and Meghan gave me a call when I was in my garden actually.

“They gave me a call we had a nice long chat and we spoke things through they said they were there for me and that I can always lean on them.”
He added: “They opened my eyes to a few things I wasn’t aware of – I was really grateful for the phone call.”
Diversity’s performance became the most complained-about TV moment of 2020.
Despite millions of viewers supporting the dance which was themed around the death of George Floyd in America and the Black Live Matter movement, some people accused ITV and BGT of politicising the show.
Hitting back, Ashley told Lorraine: “There was a lot of positivity and an incredible out reach.
“I think it became a moment – a really important moment for race relations in the UK.

“I am really proud of it and I am proud of those complaints as it needs people on both sides of the argument to talk.
“For people to say we int use our own platform to express how we feel is an odd sentiment.
“People think it is right to sensor creativity. It was how we felt so let’s talk about it.”
