Masked Singer's Blob 'worked out' by fans as specs hint points to 'obvious' star

Masked Singer fans are convinced they’ve outsmarted the judges, betting Lenny Henry is the man behind one of the show’s most mysterious masks.

The Blob made their first appearance on the show tonight, competing against The Harlequin for a place in the next round.

Complete with big round eyes, a beaming smile and a pink and purple costume, it didn’t take long for The Blob to win over viewers’ hearts.

Watching from home, viewers listened carefully to the clues before making their guesses on Twitter.

When The Blob revealed they were a spectacles-wearer, certain viewers enjoyed a lightbulb moment, and insisted comedian Lenny was the behind the mask.

Lenny, 52, played the character of Trevor McDoughnut in his early years of his comedy career, who famously wore glasses – a connection some fans were quick to make.

On top of that, Lenny has started wearing specs to red carpet events in recent years, proving he needs to wear glasses in his personal life.

One Twitter user said: “Lenny Henry is blob I believe. Wore glasses as Trevor Mcdonut and sang soul as Theo p Wildebeast.”

“Blob is Lenny Henry. First impression s refers to new faces. Glasses is when he was Trevor mcdonut and goo from tiswas,” pointed out another.

And a third chimed: “I’m out here trying to convince my family that blob is Lenny Henry because he did children’s tv shows, wears glasses, AND has sung blues stuff before.”

“Sounds sooooo much like Lenny henry I would almost bet money that it was him. he wears glasses and he’s done lots and lotssss of children’s tv,” said a fourth.

Lenny, whose full name is Sir Lenworth George Henry CBE, also appeared in children’s entertainment show Tiswas, which related to another of The Blob’s clues.

The Blob left the judges dancing in their seats during its rendition of Uptown Funk, successfully trumping Harlequin’s Shine Bright Like A Diamond.

Unfortunately, none of the judges on the panel came up with Lenny as a guess, though names like ITV’s Andi Peters, Richard Osman, Romesh Ranganathan, and Greg Davies got a mention.
