Eamonn Holmes blames working on breakfast TV for his weight gain over the years because it led to him tucking into six meals before lunch.
The 61-year-old presenter, who started on GMTV in 1993 before moving to front Sky News in 2005, explained to Daily Star: “I did 26 years on breakfast TV. It’s very ageing.
“I didn’t realise how much it changed my life, your habit and how you are. I was three stone heavier when I was on GMTV than I am now.
“The pictures of me in my 30s and 40s, I just can’t look at.”
The star recalled how he would have about six or seven meals before he would have his lunch break and how you “eat more” doing breakfast TV.

Eamonn added: “You eat more. You get up early and have a bowl of cornflakes at 4am, you get to work and you have a bacon roll then you might eat something on air like a doughnut then you finish at 9am and someone says ‘you fancy some breakfast?’
“Then you have elevenses and you’ve had six or seven meals before lunch.
“You are running on adrenaline but your cortisol is all off.”
Eamonn left Sky News in 2016 but went on to shed three stone after making a New Year’s Resolution at the end of 2015 to lose weight.

Eamonn, who now weighs 15 stone revealed: “I have shed three stone over five years.”
Despite the health improvements, he admitted he loved getting the nation up early in the morning.
He said: “You are nought to 60, five days a week. But all that is not good for you especially being stressed and angry and confrontational with politicians.
“It was quite tense but a dream job to wake the county up with news they hadn’t known from the night before.”

Eamon continued: “But to get to the situation there was negotiating with producers and directors.
“I was probably far too involved and cared about what I was doing and trebled my workload. Then I would finish it and do other things so I had very little me time.”
Eamonn will have more time to focus on himself in 2021 after he and his wife Ruth Langsford were replaced on their Friday This Morning slot by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.
The couple will now just cover school holidays.
