Peter Andre 'struggling to breathe at times and very weak' as he battles Covid

Peter Andre is battling coronavirus after being struck down with the virus at home.

The Mysterious Girl singer is said to be “struggling” and “very weak” by the potentially deadly illness.

A source has claimed that Peter is so weak that he sometimes ‘”struggles to breathe”.

“Peter started feeling unwell a few days ago, but he didn’t suspect that he had Covid, despite feeling extremely tired and unwell,” a source told The Sun.

They added: “He decided to go for a test to make sure as he started feeling very weak, which is unusual for him and he struggles to breathe sometimes.”

They went on to claim that Pete is not sure how he has contracted Covid as he ‘hardly goes out’ and has instead remained at home with his family.

Peter is said to be isolating away from his wife Emily MacDonagh who works on the NHS frontline as a doctor.

He is understood to be still looking after his children.

Pete’s management have played down the severity of the situation, though have confirmed he has contracted Covid.

A rep said: “Yes he has got Covid and he’s recovering at home. He is coping well.”

Peter is yet to publicly comment himself on his illness.

Taking to social media on Thursday morning, the TV regular shared a snap of a pile of pink balloons and presents as his daughter Amelia celebrated her 7th birthday.

He wrote: “Happy 7th birthday to my beautiful, kind and incredibly clever daughter Amelia. Love you to the moon and back …..and back.

“It’s going be a quiet one but still as special as ever even if it’s distanced ps thank you to @tofclass_ for delivering our balloons at such short notice. Amazing.[sic]”

Pete recently told New! magazine how he was left gutted at not being able to see his mum and dad during the pandemic.

His mum Thea is 84, while his father Savvas is 87.

Pete said: “I actually contacted the Australian Embassy because there are special circumstances whereby family members can fly over, but sadly I don’t fit the criteria.

“My number one priority this year is to go and see my mum and dad in Australia, as I miss them too much.

“I’m anxiously awaiting the borders opening as it’s been upsetting not seeing them, especially as my mum isn’t very well.”
