Dave Creek, who worked as the lead character designer on Bob’s Burgers, has died in a skydiving accident.
The Cartoon Brew website reported that the animator died on January 8 after sustaining injuries from the accident during the weekend prior.
Creek had worked on Bob’s Burgers since the show’s 2011 launch, landing a role as a character designer and then eventually earning the title of lead character designer.
Prior to working on Bob’s Burgers, Creek worked on the film Happiness Is A Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown, as well as the animated show Central Park, Brickleberry.
Creek was a keen skydiver, regularly sharing pictures and videos from his excursions on social media.
His most recent post was dated December 28, which showed the cartoonist freefalling from the sky.
Creek added the caption: “Steep little break-off at 5,000ft.”
When news of his death broke, Creek’s colleagues on the hit animated series took to social media to pay tribute to his legacy on the show.

Bob’s Burgers director Simon Chong tweeted: “Today we tragically lost our Lead Character designer and friend, Dave Creek.
“A wonderfully brilliant and talented man who I can guarantee designed your favourite character on Bob’s at some point. I’ll miss you, buddy x.”
One of the show’s writers, Wendy Molyneux, also wrote: “If you love Bob’s Burgers, you loved Dave Creek. He was an adventurous funny outgoing amazing artist and one of the most incredible, interesting people I ever met.
“I often thought that Dave really knew how to live, and I wish he got to live some more. Rest In Peace, buddy.”
Debuting in 2011, Bob’s Burgers follows a third-generation restaurateur who runs an eatery with his wife and their three children.
The lead characters are voiced by H Jon Benjamin, who plays lead character Bob, and Kristen Schaal.
