Scott, 59, who was married to Barbara for 20 years, has said her funeral was “heartbreaking,” but shared it was a “lovely send-off” for the British cultural icon.

He told the Sunday People: “It was heartbreaking but intimate, a lovely send-off.”

Ross Kemp, 56, who was tasked with reading the eulogy at the funeral, delivered an emotional tribute to his former co-star.

Barbara’s husband Scott has spoken out on her funeral, which took place last Friday

“The public loved her,” he told the congregation. “She loved them back and they loved her even more for it.”

The actor, who played Barbara’s character Peggy Mitchell’s son Grant on EastEnders, went on to praise her “common touch” with her fellow cast-mates and friends.

“If you walked down the road with Bar, you knew a five-minute walk would take you at least ten to 15 minutes,” Ross joked.

“She had time for everyone and anyone, no matter who or what they were.

“She was a diplomat who could walk with queens and princes, gangsters and politicians,” the documentary star continued. “But she never lost the common touch.

“She was just as happy having a quick chat with a plumber, baker or candlestick maker.”

Dame Barbara had many famous friends in the industry throughout her lifetime, so her funeral was a star-studded affair, with celebrities like Matt Lucas and David Williams in attendance.

Scott chose his wife’s iconic and timeless topless Carry On Camping photo for the order of service, which was sure to have the guests smiling.

The image was accompanied by the star’s famous quote: “That picture will follow me to the end.”

“Yup!!! Rest in peace my darling,” Scott wrote alongside it.

The Carry On actress died peacefully aged 83 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease in a care home in London.
