Gogglebox Amy Tapper on how seat belts not fitting spurred on 3st weight loss

Reality star Amy Tapper has told how she was driven to slim down after awkward moments due to her size.

The Gogglebox favourite has battled weight issues for 13 years.

In a candid chat, the 21-year-old today tells how she was made to feel abnormal for the way she looked.

Amy said: “I’ve been dealing with issues around my weight since I was eight. Over the years I tried different diets and quick fixes.

“The hardest times were when I was made to feel embarrassed. Whenever I was on a plane I’d have to ask for an extension for my belt.

“I was so embarrassed about it, I’d always book an aisle seat so I didn’t have to ask in front of a stranger.

“And then when I went to Disney with my family, me and my dad had to sit in a different row on a ride because we needed bigger seats.

“When things like that happen it’s horrible. It makes you feel like you’re not normal.”

Amy suffered more torment when her family shot to fame on Gogglebox in 2013. Internet trolls made her life hell by posting cruel comments.

She said: “I was 13 and I started looking up my name and there was negative stuff.

“At one point it was quite bad. Everyone said what they wanted. There was bullying.”

But Amy refused to let the abuse stop her carving out a TV career.

And she has finally achieved weight-loss success after adopting Musclefood’s Goal Getters regime, shedding three stone so far.

Amy said: “Losing weight has changed my day-to-day life.

“I went for a two mile walk the other day. I don’t think I could have done that before. I’m more confident, less tired and sweat a lot less.”

Amy regularly posts snaps of her weight-loss journey on social media, inspiring others to follow suit.

She said: “People tell me I motivate them with both mental and physical health.

“That makes me feel really good because it makes me realise I’m not just doing this for myself.”

Amy is on new show Celebs Go Skating, produced by Inside Trak. Watch at celebsgoskating.com.
