Jason Donovan is terrified his career could be ruined by a horror fall on Dancing On Ice.
The former Neighbours actor, 52, admitted his bank balance cannot cope with him taking any more time off after paid work dried up last year during the pandemic.
London-based Jason, who has kids Jemma, 20, Zac, 19, and Molly, nine, with his ex-stage manager wife Angela Malloch, said in a chat with OK! magazine: “My wife is worried about me getting injured, and so am I.
“If you’ve had a year like 2020 and you haven’t really been earning and everything shifts to 2021 and you suddenly find yourself in A&E with a broken arm or leg, it doesn’t bode well for cash flow.”
Jason, who made his DoI debut on Sunday, spoke of his injury fears after fellow contestant Denise Van Outen, 46, dislocated her shoulder practising a routine before the series launch.
Denise ended up taking to the ice in the end on Sunday night’s show in the end, despite fears she may have to pull out over her injury.
The former Big Breakfast host and her partner Matt Evers, who is living in a social bubble with Denise, her partner Eddie and daughter Betsy, skated to iconic Tina Turner track, Proud Mary.
Denise put her best skate forward on Sunday night, but it was clear she was in pain during her routine.
She hesitated on the floor of the ice rink and it seemed to be difficult for her to get back up as she rubbed her shoulder.
Asked how she coped by presenters Holly and Phil, Denise replied: “It’s a little bit sore but I think I’ve got so much adrenaline I couldn’t really feel it.
“I’ll be honest I’m more concerned as I haven’t shaved my armpits in four days!” the star laughed.
“Once you get more confidence I know you’ll come out fighting,” Judge and Olympic skater Christopher Dean assured the contestant.
