Ross Kemp admits to struggling in lockdown as he praises vaccine army

EastEnders hard man Ross Kemp has opened up about the difficulties of lockdown – admitting that while everyone’s circumstances are different, he thinks we all are finding lockdown 3 harder than the others.

Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of Lorraine, Ross, 56, expressed thanks for those on the frontline helping administer the Covid vaccine, though added there is still a way to go.

Ross told Lorraine: “Luckily I have a garden and enough rooms to get any where I need to.

“But I have lived up a tower block when I was younger and being stuck in one of two rooms it is going to be hard – especially if you’re a single mum with two or three children.

“I am very aware of how lucky I am but I do think that lockdown is having an effect on us all.

“It is harder than the last one, there is no sun coming through the window.

“I think naively a lot of us thought it would be gone and dusted by Christmas but it has not going away and it is still here.

“We will have to wait until that happens, no matter how painful it may be in the Kemp household occasionally.”

Explaining how he now has a “new found respect” for teachers, Ross continued: “They are frontline workers and they are doing a fantastic job.

“I now know I could never never be a teacher – thankfully my wife does most of it.”

Admitting he thinks it is hardest on teenagers who have had a taste of normal freedom only for it to be taken away, Ross continued: “When I take the dog for the walk and sometimes I see the neighbours.

“They say that it’s the 13 and 14-year-old are having it really hard.

“They had freedom but now they are shackled to the house and they have to do their lessons.

“All the work and none of the fun.”

Despite praising the roll out of the Covid vaccine across the UK, Ross warns we need to be realistic.

“This is far from over,” he continued.

“But we hope with the roll out of vaccine we can get back to the normality as soon as possible.

“Without the vaccine and the hope we do have now we would be in a desperate situation.

“I have gone all over the world and seen outbreaks of Cholera in Haiti but it is so much different when it happens at home.”

Lorraine continues weekdays at 9am on ITV
