In an incident that was not aired on BBC ‘s Drag Race UK, Asttina Mandella shared she stormed off set after clashing with the production crew.
Asttina, who yesterday appeared on Daily Star’s Facebook Live said: “I was trying to get ready and I was being moved around 24/7. I was like, ‘You’re the ones who can move around us — at the end of the day, if I’m not in drag then you haven’t got a show’.
“If something is incorrect, I will point it out. I wasn’t having it. It just ticked me off. And my emotions just went. I couldn’t control myself. I had to go off set. One of the producers had to come to me.
“Everything about me broke down in tears. I was angry. I was like, ‘This is too much for me’.”
Asttina was battling mental health issues at the time.
She added: “When you’re in the show, you’re so vulnerable. My mental health was off the roof. I was feeling depressed.
“I was feeling really anxious not having communication with my family. I was not enjoying it. I had my own struggles. I had family issues.”
Asttina was sent home by judge RuPaul in this week’s episode.
Scores of viewers have slammed the decision on social media.
But Asttina is being positive about the future.
She said: “There many things I haven’t tried out outside of drag and the creative arts I want to try out and things I’d like to learn. My personal hobby is studying psychology, so who knows what will happen in the future.
“As long as it brings me happiness and I can share that happiness then the world is my oyster, as they say.”
Drag Race UK continues on Thursday at 7pm on BBC Three.
