Rufus Hound was already tipped as one of the celebrities to watch on ITV’sDancing On Ice.
The comedian and actor was even given the Golden Ticket as the judges shared their excitement to see what Rufus, 41, had to offer on the show.
Convinced the star had a lot more to give, the contestant has now faced crushing disappointment after his latest Covid test came back positive.
Revealing it on his official Twitter page at first, Rufus told his 1million followers the sad news.
“I will no longer be participating in @dancingonice,” he said.
“COVID is – as I’m sure we’re all well aware – a b*****d and sadly the world isn’t short of those.”
As the news began circling, however, Rufus couldn’t leave behind his initial sentiment.
“Am going to have to keep re-upping this for a while,” he said a bit later, re-sharing his post. “Apologies in advance.”
Fans did their best to console the comedian, taking to the comments section to show their support.
“Hope you are feeling as well as one can be. Stay Safe, that’s the most important thing,” one person said. “The right people have got your back. Bums to the rest ;)X.”
“Sorry to hear that Rufus. Not a fan of Dancing on Ice, but a fan of yours. Chin up Boi, I look forward to some more Lego vids,” another said.
A third agreed: “S*** man, such a shame. So sorry for you pal.”
While a fourth encouraged: “Good luck fella. Sorry to hear your news. Better to come soon.”
Rufus had already missed two weeks of the show after being told he needed to self isolate after he received a Test and Trace notification.
Rufus followed the rules and completed his period of quarantine, but in a devastating twist of fate, he tested positive once again, prompting ITV producers to tell him to leave the competition.
Dancing On Ice airs on Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
