Miley Cyrus in tears during emotional Super Bowl tailgate gig for key workers

Pop star Miley Cyrus broke down in tears during the Super Bowl TikTok tailgate concert on Sunday.

The 28-year-old songstress struggled to sing her hit Wrecking Ball during the emotional moment in Tampa.

She told the crowd of vaccinated frontline workers after her performance: “Singing that song, Wrecking Ball about feeling completely broken and shattered…everyone’s suffering is different, even everyone’s threshold of pain.

“I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armour and I also wear my heart on my sleeve, and it gets broken a lot.”

Wrecking Ball is about her relationship with her ex-husband and Hollywood star Liam Hemsworth.

The singer ended her gig with a heartfelt rendition of The Climb.

Miley entered the stage wearing a black and purple cheerleading uniform with the letters “FTW” printed across her chest, as well as some matching sparkly knee pads.

She began her show by belting out a cover of Toni Basil’s Hey Mickey, although she changed the lyrics to “Hey Miley”.

The Hannah Montana star also performed her song Prisoner before she was joined on stage by pop icon Billy Joel.

Billy and Miley performed Night Crawling and his 1982 hit White Wedding.

Billy Ray. Cyrus’ daughter also took a moment to thank the essential frontline workers in the audience before she sang a person of Blondie’s Heart of Glass.

She said: ““Thank you so much! Welcome to the TikTok Tailgate everybody.

“This is my first show in about a year, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to do this than in Tampa, surrounded by healthcare heroes.

“We are so appreciative of you and all your diligence. And for that, we’re going to rock hard!”

She then danced seductively on a motorbike before singing Head Like A Hole, High, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart and a mash-up of her single Midnight Sky with Fleetwood Mac’s Edge of Seventeen.

Miley also performed her godmother Dolly Parton’s Jolene for the crowd.

The former Disney star had been teasing her prep work for the performance throughout the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

The singer previously shared a video of her singing her song Plastic Hearts as she walked on the treadmill in tight shorts and a matching sports bra.

She logged onto her Instagram account earlier in the day to share snaps on that teased her stage for the performance.

One photo showed her posing on top of a pink pool table, while other snaps gave fans a sneak peek at the elaborate posters that lined the stage.

After showing a close up of her peachy derrière in her tiny pair of denim shorts, Miley shared a video of the stage as a clip of her wearing boxing gloves played.
