The Masked Singer's Sausage identity rumours 'busted' by fans who spot new hint

The Masked Singer viewers reckon they’ve broken down all the clues surrounding the identity of Sausage.

Actress Sheridan Smith, 39, has been at the centre of speculation as the person who could be behind the mask for several weeks following multiple clues.

But fans now think she’s accidentally revealed that she isn’t the person hiding after she performed on a rival BBC programme on Sunday evening.

Sheridan performed on Musicals: The Greatest Show which saw multiple West End stars take to the stage at the iconic London Palladium to celebrate all things musical theatre, with some of the biggest shows taking part.

The actress opened the show with a jaw-dropping performance of Don’t Rain On My Parade from the production Funny Girl.

However, many of those who tuned in to the show instantly took to Twitter after coming to the revelation that Sheridan’s voice was different from Sauasage’s.

One viewer tweeted: “#MusicalsTheGreatestShow has now confirmed that sausage is not Sheridan Smith.”

While a second went on to say: “There you go people, Sausage is not Sheridan Smith #MusicalsTheGreatestShow.”

“Yeah, I started watching #MusicalsTheGreatestShow. Sausage on #MaskedSingerUK 100% isn’t Sheridan Smith,” penned a third.

Another chipped in with: “I hope everyone is hearing Sheridan Smith singing on BBC1 right now and realise that she is NOT Sausage on The Masked Singer.”

However, Sheridan’s name had been thrown into The Masked Singer mix after fans claimed they noticed multiple clues relating to her identity.

Clues include Sausage’s performance of And I’m Telling You, sang by Jennifer Hudson which has recently been covered by Sheridan.

While another was made in the pre-performance videotape, with Sausage saying: “The thing about Sausages is that they can be gourmet or no-nonsense. I am definitely the latter.

“I love a bit of the simple life. I don’t need a glam party, and I more than happy with some potato snacks,” with some believing this was a reference to her appearance in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

Another clue was Sheridan’s performance at the Royal Variety Show back in November which was filmed in Blackpool, while Sausage appeared to be enjoying a day out in Blackpool ahead of a performance.

The famous star also noted that their hair colour is “certified by law,” which Jonathan Ross believed was a nod to Sheridan’s stint in Legally Blonde the Musical.

The Masked Singer UK continues on ITV at 7pm
