Carol Vorderman's lookalike daughter Katie King applies to become astronaut

Carol Vorderman’s lookalike daughter Katie King is ‘beyond excited’ as she applies for a job as an astronaut.

The 30-year-old wants to work for the European Space Agency and her brainbox mum has pointed her in the right direction.

The former Countdown presenter shared a post after the company advertised job roles for the first time in over a decade.

Mathematician Katie has decided to try her luck for a vacancy as an astronaut, heading down a very different career path as she decided to take up the exciting opportunity.

The original tweet read: “For the first time in 11 years, we’re looking for new #astronauts.

“Media representatives are invited to a virtual press event on Tuesday, 16 February, to learn more about these exciting vacancies.”

Sharing this to her own Twitter account, 60-year-old Carol wrote: “My girl is to infinity and beyond excited about this….. she’s applying …. xx. Go Katie…”

She seems to have what’s needed to be seriously considered for the role.

Katie is also a research scientist and teaches maths alongside her mum for her online programme The Maths Factor.

At the start of 2021, Carol said she is more than happy being single forever.

The twice-married beauty said that is because the thought of sharing her life with someone else makes her want to throw up.

Carol told The Telegraph she is not clinging to the hope of finding love again – and refuses to go looking.

She said: “The thought of sharing my life with someone again makes me feel positively sick.

“I have a ridiculously happy and absurd life. I’m a very successful businesswoman, I’m a hugely successful author who has sold more children’s education books over 25 years than anyone in UK history.

She also opened up about how she is portrayed in the media, saying: “But I suppose that isn’t celebrity-worthy.

“I can do a million things on social media about being a pilot, but as soon as I put up a photo [of me] with a tight outfit on, that’s the one that gets the publicity. Therefore the public only see one side of me.”
