Helena Christensen got her fans shivering with her latest Instagram post, as she changed into her swimming cossie before heading out into the snow.
The model, 52, lives in upstate New York, but grew up in Denmark, where the practice of swimming in icy waters is a common one.
Pausing to capture the moment on camera, Helena could be seen running barefoot through the snow, wearing just a lilac bikini.
Another snap showed her hunched over a pool of water, which had formed int the centre of a stretch of ice and snow thanks to the nearby stream.
Her pet dog, an Australian Shepherd dog named Kuma, raced alongside her, nestling in the snow as Helena bathed in the freezing water.

In her caption, Helena filled fans in on her agenda for the day, saying: “Ice hole search.”
Fans couldn’t help but grimace in the comment section below, as they praised the 90s supermodel for her bravery in facing the plummeting temperatures.
One said: “Magnificent fotos, Helena. You are a braver Woman than I, X.”
“You Danes are crazy with this winter bathing,” added a second, and a third chimed: “Beautiful shots, but be careful out there.”

As of Thursday, temperatures in Helena’s hometown of the Catskills, upstate New York, have dropped to minus eight degrees.
Helena regularly heads for swims in the river by her rural home, which she previously shared with her teenage son Mingus before he moved out to pursue a modelling career of his own.
The Scandinavian starlet has decked out the sprawling country home with rustic furnishings, placing wildflowers on her dining table and decorating with wicker and shearling.

Previously describing her love of antique furnishings, she told her followers: “Old homes, old furniture and objects…
“‘They come with a story, most are made by hand, colors are faded, paint is peeling off, they’re little works of art.. every time I look at them I discover something new.
“I like imagining who the person was who crafted them. I make up stories in my head about their lives. I like to think that a bit of their soul is in my home.”
