Sir Tom Jones confesses odd 'bat' method helps him to maintain good health

Sir Tom Jones has revealed, what he claims to be, the reason for his good health – and it will most certainly make you bat your eyelids!

Excuse the pun, as the 80-year-old star actually uses a bat method which he says is the secret behind his gracious ageing.

The Welsh OBE singer told The Sun how he hangs upside down like a bat to maintain his looks and energy in his 80s.

The Voice judge said he has treated himself to a frame for “inversion therapy,” which he hooks his legs onto and then dangles down from – like a bat.

It has been claimed that the bizarre method can help to prevent back issues and helps to tackle poor circulation – which becomes a greater issue as people age.

Sir Jones told the publication how he is already considering the fact that he will be 90 in 2030.

And the fact it is nine years away has got him jumping up and wanting to increase his health.

The It’s Not Unusual singer said he “hangs upside down” while using his new toy, saying: “It’s great”.

Describing how it works, Sir Jones said: “You put your feet in the thing and you flip and you hang.”

Spice Girl star Geri Horner is also believed to be a fan of inversion therapy which is believed to work by shifting the body’s gravity which eases the pressure off the back and spine.

In 2018, Sir Tom was struck with a medical emergency which saw him forced to cancel two concerts.

The iconic legend was rushed to the hospital to be treated for a bacterial infection.

The previous year he had cancelled his US tour following medical advice.

Following his health scares, Sir Tom has taken up a number of hobbies to better his health and increase his lifespan – and it’s resulted in him getting a 12-pack.

He has taken up boxing, got himself a personal trainer and says he has cut down on alcohol.

It comes after Sir Tom revealed he is now “bulletproof” after having both Covid-19 vaccines.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the star said: “I’ve had the two and I’m now bulletproof! It’s a great feeling.

“I thought, “I’ll be able to go out and do some live shows now,” but then I thought, “You’ve got to have an audience for that!” If they haven’t had the jab, what’s the point.”
