Dancing on Ice's Faye Brookes 'fears she'll come across as villain'

Dancing on Ice contestant Faye Brookes is scared of coming across as a villain after Hamish’ exit.

The star “doesn’t want to get the ‘Caprice treatment'” following her skating partner’s exit from the show.

Faye now fears her name will be tarnished like Caprice Bourret last year.

In 2020, Hamish Gaman left the show after reports of a strained relationship with his dancing partner Caprice.

Now former Coronation Street actress Faye fears she is being painted with the same brush as former contestant Caprice, 49.

A source said: “It’s quite upsetting. Faye’s hardworking and humble. Faye just gets on with the things she is given to do.

“Now Hamish’s departure feels a bit awkward to say the least among the cast and crew.

“She doesn’t want to get the ‘Caprice treatment’ and feels she is coming off badly after the Hamish split,” the source added to The Sun.

An ITV representative made no comment when contacted by The Mirror regarding the claims.

Faye has now been partnered with professional skater Matt Evers, who was originally paired with Denise van Outen – who also quit the show after suffering a shoulder injury.

Hamish took to Instagram earlier this week to share his heartbreak over having to leave the competition early – the second time in two years.

He also described working with Faye as a “privilege” and said that he was “proud” of how far she had come.

With the post, Hamish shared clips of himself and Faye rehearsing their routine, which they will now be unable to perform together.

He wrote: “Hi everyone I’m heartbroken that I’ll no longer be skating with @faye_brookes on @dancingonice. I’m so grateful that I don’t need any surgery on my finger, but if I stay in the show I could have an accident and make my injury much worse (it is series 13).

“Coaching Faye for 4+ months has been a privilege and I’m so proud of the incredible skater that she’s become.

“I remember her being scared of skating backwards and wondering if she’d ever be able to do a 3-turn or backward crossover. Faye, you’ve come so far and achieved so much.

“The first two videos are the lifts that Faye and I were going to do in our next routine. Our song choice was ‘Into the Unknown’ from Frozen 2 Faye and I were so excited to skate to this song together.

“I can’t wait for the pubs to finally reopen so that Faye, @iamjustjoe, @ameliaskating, and I can all go for a pint. Faye, your friendship and support means the world to me. Thank you for everything #dancingonice.”

An ITV spokesperson said at the time: “Sadly we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who has been partnered with Faye Brookes, has had to withdraw from the competition. We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best as he takes some time out to allow his injury to fully heal.”

This comes after Dancing On Ice confirmed that they would be taking a break from filming this weekend amid a slew of exits.

It will return on Sunday 28 February, and will not air this coming Sunday as scheduled.
