Casualty fans 'crying' over show tribute to Cal as new character joins cast

Casualty fans were left “crying” while watching the BBC One soap tonight as bosses paid a sweet tribute to the character Cal as a new arrival entered the show.

Revealing what Fenisha (played by Olivia D’Lima) was going to call the baby, she turned to Ethan (George Rainsford) to ask what he thought of calling the little boy Cal as his middle name.

Caleb ‘Cal’ Knight, who is the brother of Ethan, was a registrar in emergency medicine who worked in the emergency department of Holby City Hospital from 2014 to 2017.

He worked in the department from January 2014 until his death three years later in April 2017 – leaving Ethan devastated and shaken by his death.

After Fenisha made the sweet suggestion, and Ethan bonded with the baby, fans rushed to Twitter to gush over the sweet moment.

One fan tweeted: “Me getting emotional whenever they mention Cal coz I’m still not over it #Casualty.”

Another wrote: “#Casualty Fenisha giving Bhodie “Cal” as a middle name got me crying,” followed by the crying emoji.

“#Casualty omg baby taking cal/caleb as his middle name,” said another.

“Cal as a middle name omg, this mentioning him making me cry #Casualty.”

The scene showed Ethan looking stunned and emotional after his former flame and mother to his child made the sweet suggestion.

After Fenisha asked whether Ethan would like to give the baby the middle name of Cal, he replied by nodding sweetly as he smiled.

Ethan said: “Yeah… that would… that would mean a great deal to me.”

“Bodhi Caleb,” Ethan said smiling.

“You’re only allowed to call him that when he is naughty,” she said with a wink.

She continued: “We’re good right? I mean, as long as we’re honest with one another.”

Ethan smiled for a reply, Fenisha continued: “We can do this.”

“Yeah,” Ethan said emotionally, “we can.”

Casualty continues next Saturday on BBC One at 8.40pm.
