Love Island millionaires cheekily 'claiming thousands from furlough handouts'

Millionaire Love Island stars are allegedly cashing in on the government’s furlough handouts, despite some of them earning £50,000 a month.

According to The Sun, a number of the stars are claiming to pay staff at their businesses while the coronavirus pandemic has the world on pause.

Stars such as Alex and Olivia Bowen, Gabby Allen and Kem Cetinay are all on the government’s list as claiming, the publication reports.

Gabby, who was a 2017 finalist, has come under fire a lot recently after she jetted out to Dubai to escape lockdown restrictions and says she will be working there “for the foreseeable”.

Despite being worth an estimated £1.3 million, Gabby is allegedly taking government money for “amusement and recreation activities” firm GDA Enterprises Ltd.

The 28-year-old star, who fled the UK’s Tier 4 with her reality star boyfriend Brandon Myers, has reportedly earned hundreds and thousands through her shape-wear brand.

Love Island favourites Olivia and Alex Bowen, who won the show in 2016, reportedly also come up on the government list of claimants with their business OAB Fashion Ltd.

It’s believed the married power couple are the show’s biggest and wealthiest success story with a combined net worth of approximately £4.4 million.

Back in November, Olivia confessed to earning up to a staggering £50,000 a month.

The star admitted: “It makes me feel a bit sick saying it out loud.”

Kem Cetinay, who won the show in 2017 with ex-girlfriend Amber Davies, is also reportedly claiming from the furlough scheme.

The 28-year-old is said to be claiming for his “service activities” company Kemcet Ltd, despite having earned an estimated £1.5 million since winning the show.

Alex and Olivia’s spokeswoman told The Sun: “Alex and Olivia followed the advice of the government to put one member of staff who would otherwise have been let go from the company because of a reduction of workload due to the pandemic onto the furlough scheme so they were not without an income.”

“Their fashion business is a young company and all actions taken were in line with government instructions to protect their staff and keep afloat during these uncertain times,” they continued.

Celebs and millionaires Guy Ritchie and Cara Delevingne were allegedly also on the list.

Daily Star Online has contacted Kem and Gabby for comment.
