Emmerdale legend Claire King has revealed that being part of one of the nation’s favourite soap operas is “not good for her brain”.
The 58-year-old actress, who has played Kim Tate on and off for over three decades, is at the centre of huge storyline which is set to rumble on for months.
Kim’s son Jamie (Alex Lincoln) has got Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) pregnant following their night of passion.
While the vet doesn’t want anything to do with his unborn chid, Kim likes the idea of a new grandchild to continue her empire.
Opening up about working on the soap now compare to when she first started in 1989, Claire told the Daily Star’s Sunday TV mag: “I always say to them ‘Will you stop writing so much for me because I’ve got so many lines to learn’.
“You are constantly learning lines, it’s a 24/7 job. And they say ‘No, because we love writing for you!’
Then I first started it was only two episodes a week. Then it went to three. Now I’ve come back to six and a half.
“Not only am I menopausal, I’m arthritic, which doesn’t help with the old brain.
“The extra workload is not good for my brain at my age.”
Kim is known for her saucy antics and famously romped in bed with young lover Dave GLover.
However, viewers will not see the village villain getting hot and sweaty in the bedroom anytime soon due to social distancing rule on-set.
Claire explained: “The lack of on-screen intimacy is down to coronavirus and social distancing, as we are filming with the two-metre rule.
“But I must say, I’m kind of happy at my age not having to do bedroom scenes and snoggy scenes. I’ll leave that to the youngsters nowadays.
“I thin people want to see young people doing it, not older people.
“It’s just nice to be working with professional people who you get on with an can have a bit of banter with. I think I’ve kind go moved on from that now.”
Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) grows determined to save her pregnant stepdaughter Gabby from Kim Tate’s clutches next week in Emmerdale.

Kim was thrilled when Gabby told her she was pregnant with her son Jamie’s baby and manipulated her into moving in.
Next week’s episodes of Emmerdale will see Gabby berate Nicola for telling Bernice about her pregnancy and is scathing about her mum, leaving Nicola and Diane shocked.
Later, Laurel meets Gabby in the Woolpack and struggles to bite her tongue as Gabby dismisses her concerns about Kim.
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm with an extra helping on Thursdays at 8pm
