Love Island fans will be brimming with excitement to learn that this year’s dating hopefuls will potentially be heading to Jersey, leaving sunny Mallorca well behind.
According to The Mirror, Love Island bosses have chosen Jersey as a back-up location for the series.
It seems producers would prefer for contestants to return to the Spanish sunshine but are lining up other options as a precaution.
Although the government has mapped out plans for travel restrictions to ease during the Covid-19 pandemic next summer, ITV bosses aren’t taking any chances and have suggested Jersey as a location that could work.

An insider revealed to the publication: “The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can’t get back to Spain.
“Either way we’re going to put out a belting series.
“Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they’re desperate to have it back. They’re going to love what we do, wherever we do it.”
Daily Star has contacted ITV representatives for comment.
In previous seasons, contestants hoping to find love on the programme jetted off to sunny islands of Spain where they isolated from the outside world in a lavish villa.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, ITV was left with no option but to throw in towel last year.
The rumour mill previously swirled into overdrive with speculation mounting that the programme could relocate to Cornwall, instead of Mallorca.
Director of television Kevin Lygo shut down any speculation the show would be cancelled for a second year, confirming plans to bring the show back in 2021.
He said: “We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it’s just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority.

“In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that’s now out of the question.”
He added: “We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021.”
Earlier this month the Laura Whitmore confirmed that Love Island would be returning for a seventh series this summer explaining that applications had been “crazy” so far.

Speaking to The Telegraph’s Stella magazine while discussing the up-and-coming series, she said. “I have been told that it’s coming back. I love doing it, it’s such a fun show.”
In memory of her good friend Caroline Flack who passed away last year at the age of 40, Laura added: “And I actually think it’s been good to have had that break, for everyone who works on it, because we all went through a loss.”
She went on: “It’s nice to realise how much people missed the show. Apparently applications are crazy this year.”
