Louise Redknapp claims her celebrity pals chose ex Jamie over her after split

Louise Redknapp is no longer hiding her feeling as she explained feeling completely “gutted” after most of her showbiz chums turned their back on her but still saw ex Jamie following their marriage breakdown in 2017.

According to the Heavy Love hitmaker, only had one friend had treated her and Jamie fairly throughout their split while everyone else ditched her.

The 46-year-old singer had been married to Jamie for 19 years before the pair decided to call it quits following Louise’s stint on the BBC hit Strictly Come Dancing.

After their separation, Louise watched from the shadows as her football pundit ex landed many invitations to swanky events, including Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding.

It was a tough pill to swallow for the former Eternal girlband member, who had considered many of the hosts to have been friends prior to her divorce.

The ballroom dancing finalist, did however praise Jimmy Carr and his wife Karoline Copping, who had always stood by her throughout, treating the former England footballer and herself evenly.

She told The Sun: “Recently, a friend came round who I hadn’t seen for a while.

“I got quite upset and I told her I missed my girlfriends who I’d got to know when I was with Jamie.”

She explained: “While they still enjoy their couples’ nights out — birthday parties, Christmas dos, drinks and the like, I’m only invited for coffee.”

Louise went on: “It’s hard” because the women were her friends who did things like going out for dinner together, and that they had “shared countless special memories” before she was brushed aside.

In her new book You’ve Got This, Louise heaped praise on comedian Jimmy and his Canadian-born parter.

The former R&B songstress said: “Out of all the friends Jamie and I shared, the only people who have made a point of still inviting me to their events are Jimmy Carr and his wife.

“They have tried to be diplomatic and made it clear that both Jamie and I would always be invited to their parties.

“Whether we wanted to go or felt comfortable going was entirely down to us — the invitation was there.

“I don’t think Jimmy will ever know what that meant to me — but in those moments where I felt lost and alone, it meant the world.”

She continued: “When you see weddings and big parties online, it can be pretty hard to swallow.

“I feel that everyone took their side, and in some cases this meant cutting me off completely.

“But in a way, maybe it’s for the best. If they are the kind of people that don’t want to be my friend or keep in touch, that’s fine. It just shows they weren’t true friends.”
