Hollyoaks' Bronagh Waugh is pregnant with first child as she unveils huge bump

Hollyoaks star Bronagh Waugh has announced she is pregnant with her first child.

She announced the pregnancy with a Instagram post of a series of photos showing off her blossoming baby bump.

Wishing fans a happy International Woman’s Day she captioned the post: “Over Lockdown I’ve been busy preparing for my next role (spoiler alert: it’s pretty major – I’m going to be a Ma!)

“Women’s bodies are incredible with what they can do and what they withstand. Absolute miracle machines and strong as an ox!”

She continued: “So Happy International Women’s Day to all of the incredible women out there doing their thing; surviving, thriving, coping and carrying on. You make the World go round & I salute each & every one of yiz!”

She thanked her photographer too, writing: “Big love & thanks to the absolutely brilliant @stewartbywater who did this Zoom shoot to mark this moment for me (as I haven’t been able to see any of my friends and family for the whole pregnancy!!)

“He’s one of the kindest, most creative, gentlest souls who made me feel strong, empowered & beautiful. So Happy International Women’s Day to him too & all the brilliant men in our life who help raise us up, support us with solidarity & love us.”

Bronagh is in a relationship with Richard Peacock.

The couple publicly revealed that they would not marry until Northern Ireland made gay marriage legal in support of Bronagh’s mother who is gay.

She said: “I’m getting married in Somerset and we’re having a big party but we’ll not do the legal bit until my mum can, until everyone in Northern Ireland can.”

She continued: “It is a human right to be able to marry the person you love. I cannot bear any group of people in our society to be treated differently.

“To allow one part of the community to get married but not another, because of their sexuality, blows my mind.

“It doesn’t harm anybody. It’s about love.”

The lovebirds were due to be married legally last year in August but their wedding was delayed by COVID-19 regulations.

The actress was flooded by fans wishing her their congratulations as well as some of her famous friends.

Love Island host Laura Whitmore, who is also pregnant with her first child with comedian Iain Stirling, wrote: “Women’s bodies are the best. Congrats.”

She followed up her pregnancy reveal post with more pictures of her bump and a message about campaigning for the decriminalisation of abortions in Northern Ireland.

She wrote: “Being pregnant has only affirmed how important reproductive rights are to me & how we must continue to fight for them.”

“Women & pregnant people are being let down by both governments in Northern Ireland. Do not let these politicians stand in the way of our rights.

“We should all have the right to choose. We should all have the right to proper healthcare. We still have work to do. Lobby your MP or your MLA today to put pressure on them. “
