Piers Morgan says Meghan and Harry are on 'malicious campaign to trash' palace

Former Good Morning Britain co-anchor Piers Morgan has slammed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, just a week after the former working royals dropped bombshell claims about The Royal Family.

Piers has taken to his official Twitter page, just hours after it was revealed that Prince Harry had told American broadcaster Gayle King that he had spoken to dad, Prince Charles.

The outspoken journalist, 55, recently walked away from his Good Morning Britain role after refusing to apologise for claiming he didn’t believe Meghan Markle, 39, had felt suicidal during her time as a senior working royal.

His controversial comments attracted 41,000 complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

Now, his latest rant has seen the former Mirror editor claim that Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan, are carrying out a “malicious campaign” to tear down The Royal Family.

In a post to his 7.8 million followers, Piers said: “There’s a very deliberate & malicious campaign being perpetrated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to smear, defame and trash Britain, our Monarchy & the Royal Family as a bunch of heartless racists.

“It’s disgusting. Time to stand up for our Queen.”

His tweet has been liked over 20,600 times by his followers who appeared to share the same thoughts as Piers.

It’s claimed that the Duke of Sussex spoke to Prince Charles and his older brother, Prince William, for the first time since his dramatic sit-down chat with Oprah Winfrey.

Prince Harry told Oprah that Prince William and Prince Charles were “trapped” within the Monarchy.

Ms King, 66, told American television network CBS that she had been in contact with close-friends Meghan and Harry who went on to reveal intimate details of the conversation.

“Well, I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling and it’s true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too,” she said.

She went on to add: “The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive but they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.

“And I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still.”

King said that she was under the expectation that nobody from Buckingham Palace had yet made contact with Meghan after the palace released a rare and personal statement from Her Majesty The Queen, who was “saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”

The statement went on to say that the claims Meghan experienced racism form members of the Mountbatten-Windsor family were “concerning” and “will be addressed by the family privately”.
