Corrie fans floored by Debbie Webster's stunning makeover in plunging dress

Coronation Street’s Debbie Webster underwent a glam transformation on the soap’s first instalment on Wednesday.

Debbie, played by Sue Devaney, was in the bistro trying on wedding dresses with Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) when she showed off her new look.

Kevin’s sister was trying to win Abi over with nibbles and dress fittings ahead of Abi’s marriage to the Weatherfield mechanic.

Debbie shone in a strapless white dress with puff sleeves and a plunging neckline, pairing the dress with a gorgeous gold necklace, with the pendant nestled in her cleavage.

The dress featured a lacy skirt to give a flash of leg.

And the star was all dolled up, with scarlet lipstick and dark eyeliner to complement the dress.

Fans took to Twitter to rave about her new look, with one saying: “Debbie in that dress” with a heart-eyed emoji and okay sign.

Another said: “Oooh loving Debbie’s dress. I want it.”

Another fan wrote, “Debbie looks better than the bride.”

But tragedy befell the dress – which Debbie revealed cost £5,000 – when she toppled backwards and into the beetroot salad Tracy had left on a seat, staining it purple.

However, some fans think it’s what she deserves after lying to Abi about serial conman Ray Crosby.

One said: “It’s obvious how Debbie should make it up to Abi now. She should turn up to Abi and Kevin’s wedding in that beetroot dress.”

Tracy, meanwhile, wasn’t impressed with her friends’ new looks, saying: “Thank goodness for wine.”

When Debbie asked what she said, Tracy played it off as: “I said you both look divine!”

She suggested Abi try pouring a glass of Prosecco over the dress to get the stain out, which only made matters worse.

Viewers were similarly divided on Sally’s new look, as she shimmered in a silver dress with a sparkly bolero.

“Plug her in and stick a lampshade on her head!” Abi joked on the show.

And Abi certainly wasn’t taken with her new bridal options, angry with Debbie’s supposed “charity.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
