Jeremy Clarkson takes brutal swipe at WWTBAM player's 'rubbish' outfit

Jeremy Clarkson doesn’t appear on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to make friends – that much was clear this evening.

The presenter knocked the first contestant of the evening’s outfit just minutes into the game, branding his jacket as “rubbish” in a cruel jibe.

Player Kane got off to a good start, using up his lifelines and hurtling towards the million-pound prize pot.

Just as Kane was looking a little pleased with himself on the show, Jezza decided to knock him down a peg or two and discussed his outfit.

Jeremy pondered: “It says in your notes here your worst nightmare would be getting a question on fashion, but I’m looking at you and I’m not seeing any reason for that.”

Jezza didn’t rate contestant Kane’s sophisticated beige blazer

Like a deer in the headlights, Kane replied: “I just don’t know much about the industry itself.”

“You’re dressed with your white T-shirt and your rubbish jacket, I thought…” Jeremy suddenly swiped, as the audience burst into peals of laughter.

As Kane tried to laugh off his outfit, Jeremy went on: “He’s a stylish man. An Italian!”

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, viewers were dismayed over Jeremy’s nasty jibe, with many assuming the former Top Gear host wasn’t impressed by Kane’s performance.

Jeremy Clarkson is famed for his cutting sense of humour on the show

One wrote: “How can he tell him his jacket is rubbish I am dead!”

“Jeremy hates him,” added a second, and a third replied: “Jeremy is no fan…”

Jeremy had a bone to pick with Kane later in the game when he opted to use a lifeline for a question about potatoes, only to realise he actually knew the answer.

The question read: “If a food is prepared in the ‘julienne’ style, which of these does it resemble?”

Below, the answers listed included – cubes, coins, matchsticks or balls.

Kane was stumped at first and decided to ask the audience, only to suddenly regret his decision mere moments later.

He realised option C, matchsticks, was correct, remembering he liked his chips in a julienne style.

Jeremy looked exasperated, and remarked: “Literally wasted a lifeline haven’t you?”

“You’re absolutely right,” Kane laughed in agreement.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire continues next Tuesday at 8pm on ITV.
