Moment Sharon Osbourne is accused of 'defending racism' in Meghan Markle row

Sharon Osbourne was very irate as she defended long-term pal Piers Morgan over his Meghan Markle comments, as shown in footage from CBS The Talk which she is no longer hosting.

In the explosive clip, co-host Sheryl Underwood says to her: “What would you say to people who may feel that, while you’re standing by your friend, it appears that you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don’t agree?”

Sharon, 68, responded: “I don’t know what he has uttered that is racist.

“I’m not trying to slide out of this one, I don’t know. Tell me. What has he uttered that is racist?”

She added: “I feel even like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is a racist so that makes me a racist.”

The discussion was triggered when Sharon publicly announced her support of Piers when he quit ITV’s Good Morning Britain following the row about Meghan.

He said he “didn’t believe a word” of her and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview, sparking an on-air row with presenter Alex Beresford.

Sharon tweeted: “@piersmorgan I am with you. I stand by you.

“People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”

Sharon, who has been on The Talk since it came on the air in 2010, has now left the show.

CBS said in a statement: “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk.

“The events of the 10 March broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home.

“As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behaviour towards her co-hosts during the 10 March episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.

“We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts.

“At the same time, we acknowledge the network and studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast.
