Piers Morgan has shared his thoughts on the goodbye address Susanna Reid gave to announce that he had stepped down from Good Morning Britain.

The controversial host, 55, has spilled on the now-infamous Good Morning Britain walk-off episode and the week that followed in his bombshell Mail on Sunday column.

Piers, 55, got into a row with GMB weatherman Alex Beresford, following his criticism of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah Winfrey interview.

As tensions reached boiling point, Piers stormed out of the studio in a jaw-dropping television moment.

Not long after the explosive GMB episode, it was revealed Piers Morgan had quit the morning TV programme after being asked to apologise by ITV bosses.

Piers Morgan shared his thoughts on Susanna Reid’s goodbye message

Susanna, 50, shared the news the following morning on GMB that Piers had quit.

Piers said that Susanna was “stony-faced” as she shared the “frosty” statement, which offically confirmed his departure from the show.

Speaking on the programme at the time, Susanna said: “Piers and I have disagreed on many things and that dynamic was one of the things viewers loved about the programme.

“He is without doubt an outspoken, challenging, opinionated, disruptive broadcaster.

“He has many critics, and he has many fans. You will know that I disagreed with him about Meghan’s interview.

“He himself clarified his comments about her mental health on the show yesterday. There are many voices on GMB, and everyone has their say.”

She continued: “‘But now Piers has decided to leave the programme. Some of you may cheer and others will boo.

“He has been my presenting partner for more than five years and during Brexit and the pandemic and other issues he has been a voice for many of you, and a voice that many of you have railed against.

“It is certainly going to be very different but shows go on and so on we go.”

Speaking about how he felt watching it, Piers shared: “Jeez, even my real ex-wife talks more fondly about me than that (and, in fact, did so overnight in a very supportive message.”

Piers shared that Susanna’s message prompted friends of his to text him and ask if they’d “fallen out”.

But Piers said that the next day Susanna called him for a “long clear-the-air chat”.

He said Susanna apologised for “tone of her goodbye” and he apologised to her for “leaving her in the lurch”.

It is yet to be revealed who will replace Piers on the programme.
