Sunday Brunch favourite Simon Rimmer was left red faced last weekend after accidentally cutting his finger open live on air.
The TV chef was had an unfortunate incident with a grater while trying to grate carrots for a recipe.
But while the painful fail made for awkward viewing, it sees some good has come out of the fail.
The moment has sparked a cocktail series by Simon’s favourite booze brand Didbury Gin.
Simon was one of the first people to stock the brand in his restaurant.
Every day this week the booze brand have released a new cocktail recipe inspired by his account.
A cheeky Instagram post shared on the brand’s official Instagram page at the start of the week read: “Hey @rimmersimon, we heard you got into a fight with a grater last Sunday…
“Sounds like you need a drink, so we’ve got your back with some grate cocktails that we promise are a CUT above the rest. Let’s get plastered, shall we?”
The tongue-in-cheek post was signed off: “Our first cutting edge cocktail creation – He’s the GRATEST dancer, inspired by the Breakfast Martini,” before adding the ingredients needed.
The second Didbury Gin cocktail of choice was a lemon and soda mix topped up with the strawberry and Sicilian lemon version of the tipple.
Keeping up with the puns, the official post read: “Morning @rimmersimon, we’ve got a drink to take your mind right off the grating memory of Sunday’s accident.”
Joking to Sunday Brunch guest Joe Sugg about his accident last week, Simon, 57, said: “I don’t want to alarm you but I’ve actually just managed to grate my thumb.”
Playfully mocking Joe for fainting on Celebrity Bake Off after cutting his finger, Simon added: “If we have got the standby team for when I faint!”
Meanwhile, co-host Tim Lovejoy chimed in with a more serious tone.
He simply added: “I think you might actually need to put a plaster on that.”
Away from their playful cocktail series for Simon, Didbury Gin are also supporting some of poorest children and families in Greater Manchester.
Earlier this year the brand launched their Manchester Tart campaign which sees 20 meals donated to families most in need for every bottle pop their Manchester Tart Gin sold.
The campaign has already been supported by Geordie Shore starlet Holly Hagan and Love Island winner Nathan Massey.
Liam Manton, co-founder of Didsbury Gin, says: “For us, bringing back Manchester Tart was a no
brainer, it was such a popular flavour when we originally released it back in 2019. To return it with a
purpose, especially that which links to the heritage of the brand, is even more special.
“We are really proud to be working with EMERGE 3Rs to help feed children and their families in the region.
“Together we believe we can make a real difference in the community and there’s no reason we can’t feed 100,000 families in the region.”
