Jamie Redknapp revealed on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain that his son is in hospital after suffering a hernia.
He shares 16-year-old Charley with ex-wife Louise, 46.
Jamie, 47, revealed that his son needed an operation after the hernia occurred, but he’s now recovering.
He appeared on the morning programme to talk about the importance of getting young people involved in sport.
He said on GMB: “My youngest has got a game on Sunday. He’s in the academy for Chelsea. My eldest Charley had a hernia operation, so he’s out of action. No rugby for him for a while.”
Jamie and Louise divorced in 2018 after separating the year before, following 20 years of marriage.
They share 16-year-old Charley and 11-year-old Beau.
But the pair are thought to be in a better place, having remained civil in part for the sake of their two sons.
An insider told Heat World: “Lou says speaking about her marriage has really helped to heal her.
“She’s serious about moving on, and has said that clearing all that toxic energy from the past has made her realise she could see herself getting married again.
“She’d like another chance at getting her happy ending.”
Louise did admit, however, that if she hadn’t appeared on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2016, the split likely would never have happened.
She wrote in her autobiography – You’ve Got This: And Other Things I Wish I Had Known: “If I’d done the show four years earlier, this wouldn’t have happened. I wouldn’t have walked away from my marriage.
“I was so scared about going back to normal life and losing what I’d achieved on the show.”
Louise recently shared her mum’s concerns that the hunky men she hangs around with are putting off potential new boyfriends.
Louise appeared on Dan Hudson and James Barr’s podcast A Gay and a Nongay, and said: “My mum said to me, ‘When you’re sat there with eight boys, maybe men aren’t coming up to ask you out because they think one of them is your boyfriend.'”

The singer replied: “It just made me laugh… I don’t want to have to wear a T-shirt saying ‘They’re all gay men!'”
Meanwhile, ex-hubby and retired footie ace Jamie is dating Swedish model Frida Andersson-Lourie, who is 10 years his junior.
Frida is also a divorcée, and was previously married to 58-year-old hedge fund manager Jonathan Lourie.
Jamie’s relationship with Frida is his first confirmed romance since his split from Louise.
