Eamonn Holmes has described his chronic pain battle as a “waking nightmare,” reaching out to his fans for help after facing a sleepless night.
The This Morning presenter, 61, took to Twitter in the early hours of Sunday morning to discuss his condition with his followers, seeking advice and guidance.
Eamonn has been seen by doctors for the issue, but he is still waiting on a diagnosis, having undergone testing in recent days.
Suggesting those facing similar chronic pain ought to support one another, he got a conversation going with his fans in the middle of the night.
A little after 3am, he asked: “Well time to check in again ….. who’s not having a good night ? Who has pain that’s stopping them being in a beautiful dream ?
“Who is living a waking nightmare through #ChronicPain? Just trying to get us all speaking to each other and offering comfort and support.”
The presenter then managed to fall back asleep for a few hours, before logging back on to Twitter for a second time, having been awoken by his pain.
“Ok so body decided I was enjoying those 2 hours of sleep too much,” he said.
“Pain at its worst lying down. So anyone know how to sleep standing up ? Just asking for a friend.”
It comes after Eamonn admitted his results had been pushed back until next week due to the Bank Holiday weekend, meaning he will have to wait before getting to the root of the problem.
Eamonn also pledged to use his platform to raise awareness of chronic pain, which is a persistent pain that carries on for longer than 12 weeks.
He told his fans: “I’ve felt for you all, promise to promote this cause, been sad on your behalf and even found time for a chuckle where I didn’t think there could be one…
“Meaning all offers of pain relief cannot be accepted however sincerely meant.”
Upon recommendation from a physio, Eamonn has found taking cold showers helps to relieve the symptoms of pain, dulling the inflammation and filling him with energy.
The Northern Irish personality is due to host next week’s installments of This Morning, where he will reportedly drum up awareness of the reality of chronic pain.
