Eamonn Holmes has followed in Joe Wicks’ footsteps and embraced ice showers in an attempt to help his chronic pain.
The This Morning presenter revealed the freezing treatments are not only helping his body but his ‘brain fog’ too.
And he’s getting better sleep as well.
The 61-year-old said: “I wasn’t at all enthusiastic when my physio suggested that to increase my energy levels and circulation I should start my day with a shower- a cold one.”
Fitness trainer to the stars Joe Wicks is also a fan after following the Wim Hof method, named after the Dutch athlete who also known as The Iceman because of his ability to withstand freezing temperatures.
The health guru, 34, is such a devotee to the regime that he has decked out his garden with equipment to incorporate ice baths into his recovery, after being left impressed by both the physical and mental health benefits.
Eamonn wrote in his Best magazine column: “Gingerly I built up to it, 10 seconds, 15 then 20.
“Now I’m at a minute and counting and I’m a total convert.
“Brain fog has left me and it genuinely has made me more energetic and positive.”
The Northern Irish star has been suffering after hurting his back and underwent an MRI scan last week after the intense pain got worse and pushed him to try and find a cure.
He explained: “The pain is absolutely worse at night, the humbling thing is when you go on social media and you talk to people who suffer from this, age isn’t a barrier, where you live isn’t a barrier, how much you earn isn’t a barrier.”
Eamonn, who is presenting This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford this week revealed he was having twice daily physio sessions including one at 4:30am just so he is able to present the show.
He shared on Monday: “Physio just left after 2nd session of the day. He said my body was hot… result being that I needed to cool off with my 2nd cold shower of the day….. Let’s hope it helps me sleep soundly.”
