Racing pundit Chris Hughes has opened up about his “difficult” split from former Girls Aloud band member Jesy Nelson.
The hunk, who shot to fame on Love Island, admitted his life became a “s***storm” in the wake of the breakup.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, he shared: “It was a tough period in a lot of people’s personal lives and it was for me too, as break-ups are never easy.
“It was difficult. Sometimes you just grow apart.“There have definitely been days when I wake up and things haven’t felt great.”
Chris added: “Life was a s***storm.”
28-year-old- Chris is still single, after shunning virtual dating during lockdown, and instead preferring to get to know people “face to face”.
Chris started dating Jesy in late 2018 after his acrimonious split from fellow Love Island star Olivia Attwood, 29.
The pair’s tumultuous relationship, which saw them engage in rows aplenty, was documented on their short-lived reality TV programme, Chris & Olivia: Crackin’ On.
Therefore, undoubtedly his relationship with Jesy provided some what of a contrast, as he described it as “a very normal relationship”.
But to the public it appeared that cracks began to show in their relationship in January 2020 at the National Television Awards, where Jesy won an NTA for the Best Factual Entertainment programme for her documentary – Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out.
Despite the initial jubilation of his girlfriend bagging an award, Chris lost his temper with photographers at the bash, with Jesy not looking too happy.
The pair were then forced to live separately when the nation was plunged into lockdown a couple of months later as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
