Susanna Reid appeared to full emotion as she paid a heartfelt tribute to Nikki Grahame and her loved ones on Good Morning Britain.
The 50-year-old TV presenter, looked tearful as she addressed Nikki’s family, adding: “I can’t imagine what you’re going through.”
Friends and family had pulled together to start a GoFundMe in a bid to provide specialist support to the star at a eating disorder clinic.
Nikki, who was best known for appearing on the Channel 4 reality show hit Big Brother, died on Friday morning aged 38, following a life-long battle with anorexia.
Sharing her condolences, Susanna said: “I think it has caused real shockwaves and has really highlighted a very important issue about eating disorders, how seriously they must be taken.
“I know her friends had really rallied around to try and help her.”
She went on: “We send our enormous love and support to Nikki’s friends and family. I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now.”
Showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold looked equally choked up as he explained to Kate and Susanna that he’d only spoken to Nikki last year.
Kate added: “Horrific,” before Susanna took the reigns again to finish.
She said: “It’s absolutely raised a lot of issues for people and those discussions are really, really important.
“Our love to all of you dealing with that loss.”
The sad news of Nikki’s death was confirmed by representatives at the weekend and since then celebrity tributes have poured across social media.
Former Big Brother host Davina explained in profound post that she was “lost for words” as she took to both Instagram and Twitter to pay her respects.
She penned: It felt odd that I had posted something on Twitter and not on here. ‘I’ve typed and deleted three times…
“I can’t find the words… its just really tragic,’ she wrote alongside a picture of Nikki.”
