Singer-songwriter Justin Bieber certainly knows how to cause a stir with his ever-changing appearance and it looks like he’s done it again with his recent Instagram post.
Taking to the social media platform on Sunday, Justin, 27, shared a photo of himself sporting his distinct new barnet.
Posting the snap of himself at home, the pop star wore a pink and black squared detailed jumper, red shorts and a pair of long light pink socks. He also added red-framed sunglasses to the look.
The Yummy singer simply captioned the photo with two palm tree emojis.
Despite wearing a rather brave choice of attire, many fans were more concerned with his lockdown hairdo and took to the comment section to air their views.
One confused follower asked: “What happened to your hair darling?”
Another said: “Justin what the hell is up with your hair?”
While a third perplexed fan penned: “We love you but what is that???”
However other fans seemed to love the daring new look and completed his hair. One fan wrote: “Cute hair [love heart emoji].”
Though Justin’s matted dreads may be new for some, others may remember the star rocking a similar hairstyle back in 2016.
At the time, Justin went for a bleach blonde look and his dreadlocks appeared a lot neater than what he’s currently rocking at the moment.
Despite this, many fans were left unimpressed by the singer’s choice of hairdo and called him out for cultural appropriation.
Locks have been worn by various ethnicities across the globe with the earliest documented dreadlocks found in India.
However due to Jamaican Rastafarians being the first to use the name ‘dreadlocks,’ many people deem it to be a cultural hairstyle.
When the performer first wore the dreadlocks back in 2016, it caused several heated online discussions to take place, as many fans were not happy with his choice of style and with his boldness to appropriate other cultures for fashion purposes.
After receiving several criticisms, Justin was seen in a backstage clip with artist Big Sean discussing his barnet in which the singer screeched “it’s just my hair”.
However, the singer changed his hair shortly following the backlash of complaints received.
