Best pubs in London to spot a celeb – From Taylor Swift to Liam Gallagher

There isn’t much that unites us across the country at the moment but one thing that bridges the political divide is a good old fashioned trip to the pub.

From a cold pint in the sun after a long day at work to a slap-up Sunday lunch at the weekend, there’s nothing us Brits love more than the pub.

And with just a couple more weeks to go until we are able to go inside our locals once more, we decided to run down the best places you can go if you want to add a bit of celeb spotting over your cold one.

From Madonna to Liam Gallagher, just about every A-lister has their favourite boozer in London – even if some are off the beaten track.

The Lore of the Land in Fitzrovia is director Guy Ritchie’s latest venture into hospitality.

Located just north of Oxford Street the discreet boozer is popular with some of the star’s closest friends including football legend David Beckham.

With dark green walls and low hanging lights the pub isn’t short of atmosphere.

As well as standard beers, the pub serves Guy’s own beer and venison from his sprawling Wiltshire country estate.

Gritchie beers come in at £4.50 a pint.

Following the premiere of his film The Gentleman in 2019, Guy hosted an intimate VIP party at the pub which was attended by a host of stars including Guy and Madonna’s son Rocco.

The Flask, Hampstead

The Flask is one of the many quintessential British pubs scattered through North London.

Minutes from Hampstead underground, The Flask is a a Grade II listed boozer which offers traditional pub grub and pints

In 2019, Taylor even sang about her love of the city on Lover album track London Boy.

During a date at The Flask, Joe and Taylor enjoyed a meal of two London Pride pints and classic fish and chips.

Over the past couple of years Taylor and Joe have been spotted countless times enjoying a cheeky pint and pub meal.

The Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington

The Scarsdale is popular with former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan.

The West London pub in Kensington boasts a relaxed atmosphere with an open fire and pub restaurant.

As well as being Piers’ local it’s where he took budding actress Meghan Markle before putting her in a cab for a date with Prince Harry.

While Piers is keen to remind the world how Meghan cozied up to him, she has given him the cold shoulder ever since.

The Prince of Wales, Highgate

The Prince of Wales was a favourite haunt of Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher until recently.

The British music icon would often be seen knocking back the pints with pals at the cosy venue which offers cask ales and quiz nights.

The Prince of Wales also has a beer garden.

Over the years Liam has been said to have become embroiled in countless rows at the pub resulting in him being thrown out.

Now he’s moved homes the pub is no longer on his doorstep though we wouldn’t be surprised to see him back inside once lockdown ends.

The Grapes, Limehouse

Lord of the Rings acting legend Ian McKellen is the owner of this two floored pub in East London.

Set just off the banks of the north side of the Thames, The Grape is at the end of Narrow Street – a few doors down the road from Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant The Narrow.

On the ground floor you will find a wood panelled boozer where upstairs is the dining room.

The discreet pub has been there since 1583 making it one of the oldest in London.

During Covid, the pub has also been offering takeaway options.

The Windsor Castle, Kensington

Set between Kensington and Holland Park, The Windsor Castle used to be a favourite of Madonna’s and Guy Ritchie’s when they were married.

Described as a “hidden gem” the pub stands out with its bold white and black exterior before giving way to a village style pub in central London.

As well as the bar, the venue also serves traditional Sunday roasts.

If it’s good enough for the Queen of Pop then it must be worth a visit.

Chiltern Firehouse, Marylebone

While not technically a pub, no list of celebrity hot-spots would be complete without Chiltern Firehouse making an appearance.

The former Fire Station has played host to some of the most exclusive parties over the years.

Tucked away on a side street in Marylebone, the swanky venue boasts countless hidden rooms making it the perfect place for stars to enjoy a drink or two in private.

The Firehouse also has an outdoor courtyard for the summer months as well as a luxury hotel.

But before you head to the security manned gates you may want to think twice.

The venue often has a waiting list of weeks for even a drink at the bar.

Though once inside you’d be hard pressed not to see at least one famous face.
