Alan Carr turned down Strictly same-sex pairing as he'd 'get aroused'

Alan Carr said he couldn’t take part in Strictly Come Dancing as he’d ‘get aroused’ when performing the sensual dances.

Speaking on his podcast Life’s A Beach, the 44-year-old comedian said it would be impossible to perform any sensual dances with a man as it would “make him hard”.

The Chatty Man star explained: “I get asked to do Strictly every year.

“I get asked about what I think about same-sex dancing and I say no.

“Their eyes light up and go ‘oh my god’ and I say no because I’d get a lob on if I dance with Aljaz or Gorka. I would be so hard.”

Alan joked as he continued: “If I get on a bus, the vibrations make me hard. So doing the Argentine tango, forget it, that’s a sexy dance.”

The media star added that he would “love to do Strictly”, but it wouldn’t happen if he had a male partner.

Alan’s revelation comes after it was claimed that Strictly bosses are considering featuring two same-sex couples in the new series.

Olympic gold medalist Nicola Adams made show history in 2020 as she became the first celebrity to perform in a same-sex pairing with professional partner Katya Jones.

Viewers were impressed and loved the same-sex pairing and it’s been said producers are considering male and female same-sex couples in 2021.

A source told The Sun: “Bosses are still looking at all the options but given the positive feedback from last year, they’re seriously considering having two same-sex couples, one male and one female.

“The show has to move forward and viewers loved last year’s series.”

Nicola requested to be partnered with a woman on the BBC show, and Strictly execs agreed as they branded their show as “inclusive”.

The show faced 100 Ofcom complaints from viewers after the show announced its first same-sex coupling.

Bosses released a statement saying the competition is “inclusive” and they are “proud” to have had same-sex partners in previous series.

The statement read: “Strictly Come Dancing is an inclusive show and is proud to have featured same-sex dancing amongst the professional dancers in group numbers in previous series.

“We have stated, in the past, that we are open to the prospect of including same-sex pairings between our celebrities and professional dancers, should the opportunity arise.

“Nicola Adams requested an all-female pairing, which we are happy to facilitate.

“The show is first and foremost about dance, the sex of each partner within a coupling should have no bearing on their routine.”
