She has been entertaining the world since she was a child, having made her debut in Woody Allen’s short film Oedipus Wrecks aged only six.
Known as Hollywood royalty for as long as film fans can remember, Kirsten Dunst seemed an unstoppable force in Little Women, Jumanji and Small Soldiers.
Then, of course, three Spider-Man movies rocketed her popularity even further – and the offers didn’t stop rolling in.
But for a while now, her name just hasn’t been on many lips during a critical time for the film industry.
Fans are wondering if she would return to our screens after an absence lasting four years, or if she was done with movie making altogether.
The Power Of The Dog, which is set to hit streaming services sometime in 2021, is soon going to end that wait but some still question if the star has the box office pull of her heyday in the 2000s.
She was known as Tinsel Town’s It girl but after almost being forgotten, there’s a sense of genuine excitement about her comeback.
Some say she just got fed up with the industry, but it doesn’t require much brain juice to figure out that Kirsten was taking some time out.
They may not be married, but the actress recognises Jesse Plemons as her “husband”.
They started dating in 2016 while co-starring in the FX series Fargo and became engaged a year later.
The 38-year-old Golden Globe nominee is now expecting her second child with him.
The movie star revealed the wonderful news to W magazine but didn’t reveal the gender of the baby, or let anyone know when the new arrival was due.
She did speak on the challenges she’s now facing by revealing just how difficult the shoot was to do with a baby bump.
“Every shot was on the floor,” she told the magazine. “I was like, ‘I can’t get up.’ I felt like Urkel.”
Kirsten is not a regular social media user, a private person who prefers where possible to keep out of the spotlight.
In 2021, when profile is everything, many think she needs to shout about her talents some more.
She did perhaps offer clues about issues within the industry in an interview last year.
“I’ve never been nominated for anything – maybe like twice for a Golden Globe when I was little and one for Fargo,” she said on Sirius XM’s In-Depth With Larry Flick.
“Maybe they just think I’m the girl from Bring It On. I just feel like, ‘What did I do?’ Maybe I don’t play the game enough.”
But if you cross her, you are likely to know about it.
Kirsten called out an “ignorant” tweet by news agency Reuters which described her as being “best known for her role as Spider-Man’s girlfriend”.
The now deleted post included footage of her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony alongside the caption: “Kirsten Dunst, best known for her role as Spiderman’s girlfriend, receives a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Understandably, she wasn’t happy.
On The Talk, she said: “Well you know… I don’t really look at Twitter and stuff, so I’m not really a social media girl.
“But I was looking for the show and everything, and it felt like, you know, I read it too and was like ‘Yeah, that’s pretty s****y.
“So I was proud that my fans and everyone rallied around and supported me. It was a very ignorant tweet, and it was probably done very carelessly by a man.”
