Ellie Goulding has welcomed her first child with her husband Caspar Jopling.
The singer, 34, gave birth just weeks after surprising fans with the news that she was eight months pregnant in a stunning at-home shoot for Vogue Magazine.
Caspar confirmed she had welcomed a baby on his Instagram story on Sunday as he shared a picture of a bunch of flowers and wrote: “Mum and baby both healthy and happy 🙂 Extremely grateful”.
He added: “I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job, but during this magical and personal moment we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy – Thank you x”.
Caspar also cheekily shared a Google screenshot showcasing the world’s population as 7,874,965,825 – though he’d crossed out the last five and wrote a six in its place, accompanied by a row of grinning emojis.

The couple tied the knot back in 2019 at the stunning setting of York Minster, and found out they were expecting a child on their one-year anniversary.
Discussing her pregnancy back in February with Vogue, Ellie said: “That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality.
“Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.”
The pair were allowed to take the trip when lockdown restrictions eased, and the Burn hitmaker had “no idea” she was pregnant when she appeared on The One Show in July last year.

“That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out,” she explained.
“It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary.”
Ellie admitted she stole Caspar’s coat for a couple of months in order to keep her bump hidden.
The songstress hasn’t yet commented on the birth of the couple’s first child, though fans have rushed to comment on Caspar’s latest Instagram post to share their congratulations.

“Congrats. Enjoy this blessing,” one penned.
“I can’t put into words how happy I am right now for Ellie and Caspar!” another gushed.
A third wrote: “Huge congrats to you both!”
While someone else added: “Congratulations!! So happy with happiness!”
The Starry Eyed songstress has previously said that she knows her baby’s gender “by default” but isn’t interested in doing an official public “reveal”.
