The Chase viewers were left puzzled as one contestant made a really unexpected noise during Monday night’s episode of the ITV quiz show.
Workflow technician Karen, from Strood, was one of the latest episode’s strongest players, instantly racking up £6,000 in the cash builder round as player one.
But she was also a real character, and decided to answer one of Bradley Walsh’s quiz questions by mimicking the noise a pig makes.
The question read: “In France, the sound made by what farmyard animal is written as ‘groin, groin’?”
Instantly putting B for pig, Karen was confident with her answer as Bradley turned to her for an explanation.
Making the sound of an unusual snort instead of speaking, Karen giggled and Bradley was left taken aback by the 57-year-old’s choice of response.
Regardless, the player was correct and went straight back to her teammates with a grin.
Taking to Twitter, viewers questioned what Karen had been doing with bemusement.
“WTF was she doing!!! That sound #TheChase,” one person cried.
Another wondered: “Is Karen available for party entertainment ??? She’s a barrel of laughs #TheChase.”
“What happened to oink oink?! #TheChase,” a third asked.
“Groin, groin? #TheChase,” a fourth asked.
Sadly, despite a stellar performance from all the contestants during today’s show, it wasn’t enough to excel in the final chase.
Up against quiz genius Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast, the team were knocked out after only managing to get 18 correct answers.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
