BBC Breakfast has undergone some changes this week and the shake-ups kept coming as regular presenter Charlie Stayt was replaced by Jon Kay on Friday morning’s show.
Charlie and Naga Munchetty are normally always paired up on the BBC programme, just as Dan Walker and Louise Minchin always host together on their scheduled days in the week.
But with Charlie noticeably absent, the BBC chose to let Jon Kay fill in instead.
Viewers were also left puzzled and confused by the variety of changes to the usual BBC Breakfast line-up this week.
During Thursday’s edition of the programme, both Charlie and Naga were absent.
And the pair also took another day off earlier this week.
Fans can only hope things return to normal with next week’s schedule.
“#BBCBreakfast where is Naga and Charlie,” one person tweeted.
Another complained: “@BBCBreakfast Why the Z-Listers today on #BBCBreakfast? This programme has become so bland and lame that it’s only worth watching when Charlie and @TVNaga01 are fronting it. Roll on #GBNews @GBNews #NoLicenceMoneyFromMe!”
“So have Charlie and Naga got the boot from @BBCBreakfast?,” a third alarmed viewer asked earlier this week.
While a fourth wondered: “Where is Dan and Charlie.? When will they be back.”
In a funny twist, despite fans worrying about when Charlie will return, others were also distracted by Jon’s choice of multicoloured stripy socks on the show.
“@BBCBreakfast Never mind the news of the Hartlepool By-Election, what about those socks Jon Kay is wearing today. Turn down the volume Jon!” one person commented.
Another joked: “@BBCBreakfast jon kay your socks & trousers!!! Put your legs under the table lol.”
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
