Line of Duty stars Martin and Vicky unrecognisable as Wham! for birthday

Line of Duty stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure dressed up and did fancy dress as iconic 80s pop band Wham! for their joint birthdays on Saturday.

The BBC cop drama cast-mates have been through thick and thin on the rollercoaster show, and are just as close friends in real life.

And in celebration of his birthday being on the same day as his co-star, Steve Arnott actor Martin shared a hilarious snap of them pretending to be George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.

Martin wore a Choose Love T-shirt just like one the band wore at a concert show in 1984.

While Vicky clad herself in double denim and a white fitted top tucked into her jeans.

The Kate Fleming actress has worn her hair in a similar hairstyle to Andrew for years, her floppy brown tresses styled to perfection at the front – so it was the perfect costume.

Martin spiked his hair up like late musician George used to in the late 90s.

The actor also slipped on a pair of round sunglasses for the occasion and a long silver necklace and white jeans.

The pair looked super cool as they posed for the camera while celebrating their joint part.

Wham! were a hugely popular band in the 1980s

“Have a Wham birthday,” Martin, who turned 37, wrote next to the image.

The now 38-year-old Vicky shared a similarly sweet tribute to her longtime co-star too when she appeared on the Jonathan Ross show.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY @mrmartincompston,” she posted next to another image of the duo.

“Sharing my birthday with one of my best mates in the world is nearly as special as getting a promotion before you!!!

“Love ya mate! Have a great day dancing in the rain!! Xxx,” she joked, referring to her character being promoted before Steve in season five of the hit series.

Other actors came out and shared their well-wishes for the pair, with Terry Boyle star Tommy Jessop writing a special message on his Twitter page.

“I actually hear that it’s @Vicky_McClure and @martin_compston’s birthday today apparently,” he said. “So I want to wish you two people a happy birthday and many happy returns from me.

“In the words of a certain person called Sir Bruce Forsyth. Keeeeeeep Dancing & smiling. Love From Tommy,” Tommy added.
