Grimes was taken to hospital for panic attack days after Elon Musk's SNL debut

Grimes has opened up about how she found herself suffering a “scary” panic attack and ended up being taken into hospital.

The quirky musician’s real name is Claire Boucher, and she is in a relationship with tech mogul Elon Musk, and the pair share a son together.

She appeared on Saturday Night Live to support Musk, who was hosting the show.

The 33-year-old mum-of-one was admitted to hospital on May 10, just two days after she appeared on the popular programme alongside her partner.

Grimes made an appearance on the show in a Nintendo-themed sketch, dressed as the iconic Princess Peach.

She shared a snap on Instagram of her posing happily with Miley Cyrus, who was the musical guest on the show.

In the candid caption, Grimes revealed that she had forgotten to post the photos, because she had been to hospital.

The Canadian musician wrote: “Forgot to post these cuz I somehow caused myself to have a panic attack and went to the hospital yesterday which tbh was quite scary and I suppose it’s a good time to start therapy.

“But nonetheless – wowwwww Miley Cyrus is good live and so chill! So grateful to the SNL team for being so kind and letting me sneak in as princess peach and so proud of my beautiful E (which I know will upset the grimes fans so I apologise in advance) but he killed it.”

Grimes and Elon have one son together and as part of their appearance on the show, Tesla CEO Musk made a joke about their son’s unusual name.

The couple called the little boy X Æ A-Xii.

“It’s pronounced, ‘Cat-running-across-the-keyboard,'” Elon laughed.

This isn’t the first time that Grimes has talked about her mental health.

She has spoken about it previously in interviews, and encourages fans and supporters to look after themselves and teach out for help.

Grimes says she has experienced panic attacks and severe social anxiety for as long as she can remember.

The talented pop star says making music makes her happier.

She previously told Dazed Magazine: “I was really not a happy person. Since I’ve started making music, it’s the first time in my life that I’ve been a happy person.”

Paris Hilton and Janelle Monae both showed their love for the star, leaving heart emoji comments on the Instagram post.
