Alison Hammond red-faced as she makes awkward Joan Rivers death blunder

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond got caught out on air during Friday’s show as she and Dermot O’Leary spoke to a celebrity property expert about the homes currently on the market.

Celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, Tom Cruise and other lavish homes were shown on screen, with their jaw-dropping decor and worths revealed.

Joan Rivers’ New York penthouse was also shown on camera, and Alison said she thought Joan’s place would be great to live in.

The property expert reminded Alison that Joan died back in 2014, and the property had since been sold to someone else, leaving her red-faced.

Alison’s awkward blunder was noticed by viewers as they took to social media to point out her slip-up.

One posted: “Joan rivers died in 2014 Alison.”

Another added: “Alison talking about Joan Rivers having a NY penthouse, not realising she died 7 years ago!”

A third chipped in: “I don’t think Alison knew that Joan Rivers is deceased.”

A fourth agreed: “Ooh, did Alison forget Joan Rivers already passed away?”

Meanwhile, she and Dermot spoke to royal expert Camilla Tominey and TV star Giles Brandreth about Prince Harry’s latest comments on a podcast with actor Dax Shephard.

Prince Harry claimed that his life was “like a mix between the Truman Show and a zoo,” which was swiftly shut down by Camilla.

She said: “This whole suggestion that he was living his life in the Truman Show – anyone who has seen that Jim Carrey movie it’s about someone being filmed every second of their life. That just simply wasn’t the case.

“I appreciate there was a huge spotlight shone on him and Meghan and there is in royals in general.

“But large swathes of their lives was spent in private in Windsor, completely unbothered by the press and paparazzi.”

She added: “In fact, the paparazzi haven’t really photographed royals in private – for years, frankly since Diana’s death because everything changed.

“Also, I think, anyone who is family with the famous Philip Larkin poem about what your parents can do to you, we’ve all got our own stories to tell and at times, we’ve all had traumatic childhood experiences.”

Harry also revealed that he was encouraged by his wife Meghan Markle to get therapy in the UK, and said that speaking about his feelings to a therapist “burst the bubble” for him.

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
