ITV’s Good Morning Britain seems to be in hot water yet again, after they received 85 complaints from viewers who were not happy with Alistair Campbell’s pro-labour views.
On Tuesday May 11, former speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow joined presenter Susanna Reid and her co-host Alastair in the studio.
Though things initially started off smoothly, conversations soon became rather heated quite quickly between the trio, as they entered into a passionate debate regarding Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Both Alistair and John criticised the prime minister and accused him of “spewing falsehoods”. But Susanna had an opposing view, which led her to fight her corner in the ongoing debate.

An exhausted Susanna said to the pair: “Look, I’m not here to defend the prime minister…”
But she was immediately cut off by John who clapped back and said: “No, you just like calling him Boris, because he’s your favourite puppy dog, apparently.”
Taken aback by John’s harsh criticism, host Susanna said: “That’s a bit insulting towards me.
“I think a lot of people call him Boris in the same way people call him Keir, and I call you John….”

But things appeared to escalate even further when Alastair, who was the former ex-right hand man to former Prime Minister Tony Blair queried Boris Johnson’s comments over the economy.
Boris previously stated that the UK’s economy had grown 73 percent since Conservatives were in power but Alastair disagreed with this claim.
He said: “Susanna, the economy did not grow by 73 percent over that period of time, that is a fact and it goes back to the 1990s which included the entire period of the Blair/Brown government and said that is under Conservative government.
“That is just a fact and he should correct the record.”

Susanna responded: “So your problem is his date was wrong?”
A heated Alastair chimed back: “No, my problem is that it’s not true and if it’s not true he should correct the record, that’s is what the ministerial code says he should do!”
Not liking what they saw on the show, viewers shared their complaints on Twitter.
One viewer penned: “Puppy dog ….WOW. that was a car crash. No way would @piersmorgan would have allowed @susannareid100 to me belittled like that #GMB.”
While another unimpressed viewer said: “Susanna, doing her usual devil’s advocate, is having great difficulty with her interviews this morning #GMB.”
Ofcom clearly states on their website news, in whatever form should be “reported with due accuracy and presented with due impartiality.”
Former GMB presenter Piers Morgan frequently racked up the numbers regarding Ofcom complaints from viewers while he was on the show.
Before his departure, Piers accumulated approximately 41,000 Ofcom complaints from viewers for his views on Meghan Markle and mental health.
The huge number of complaints also led to an investigation from the broadcasting regulator.
