Lady Gaga says she got pregnant at 19 after being raped by a music producer

Lady Gaga has bravely spoken out about how she was raped when she was 19 by a predatory music producer – leading to an unwanted pregnancy.

The pop superstar also revealed in the docuseries by Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey that she had a “complete psychotic break” after the abuse and went on to feel “extreme pain and numbness” years later.

Gaga, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, recalled how the producer, who she refuses to name, told her he would “burn all her music” if she didn’t take her clothes off and have sex with him.

After raping her, he dropped her off on a street corner near her parents’ house, pregnant, Gaga said.

The Born This Way singer said in the docuseries The Me You Can’t See: “I was 19 years old, and I was working in the business, and a producer said to me, ‘take your clothes off’.

“And I said no. And I left, and they told me they were going to burn all of my music. And they didn’t stop.

They didn’t stop asking me, and I just froze and – I don’t even remember.”

She added: “The person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on a corner”.

The 35-year-old first spoke about the alleged rape in 2014 and told Howard Stern it left her “a shell of her former self” and that she “couldn’t accept it” and blamed herself.

Gaga added at the time: “It changed who I was completely. It changed my body, it changed thoughts.”

The ordeal also left her with PTSD and because she never dealt with it properly at the time or told anyone, she began to experience excruciating pain all over her body that “mimicked the illness she felt after being raped”.

She also said in the soul-baring documentary, where Prince Harry also opens up about past trauma: “First I felt full-on pain, then I felt numb, and then I was sick for weeks after.

“I realised that it was the same pain that I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on a corner [by] my parent’s house, because I was vomiting and sick.

“Because I had been abused, and I was locked away in a studio for months.”

Gaga said during her psychotic break she “was not the same girl” and despite numerous MRI scans, doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with her.

“But your body remembers”, she said.

Her mental health is slowly getting better, Gaga shared, but it’s not “a straight line”.

She added: “Even if I have six brilliant months, all it takes is getting triggered once to feel bad. And when I say feel bad, I mean want to cut, think about dying, wondering if I’m ever gonna do it.”
