Bill Turnbull branded 'class act' as he reunites with GMB's Susanna in shake-up

Good Morning Britain fans were over the moon to see Bill Turnbull at the helm, alongside Susanna Reid on Monday’s show.

The dynamic duo have worked separately since 2014 after Susanna, 50, had competed on Strictly Come Dancing, leaving the BBC Breakfast just one year later.

It’s been seven years since Susanna and Bill, 65, have graced screens together and their reunion was welcomed by masses of fans on social media.

Twitter was ablaze with praise and compliments, with one fan writing: “Fantastic to watch Bill Turnbull this morning. Class act. He’s totally right about the time keeping too. Many people turn on to watch the news on the hour, so overruns are sloppy.”

Another chimed: “What a wonderful surprise seeing Bill back on the TV. A true professional with more than a touch of excellent humour. Pleased to see him looking so well.”

“It is great to see Bill back with you Susanna, truly is, brings back memories of those Breakfast days, its made my morning and Susanna looking gorgeous in green this morning, you truly do. A brilliant partnership together Susanna and Bill,” gushed a third.

A fourth tweet read: “So so lovely you two together Great to have Bill on GMB it was needed. Great.”

Bill was equally happy to be back in the presenting chair.

He said: “I’m delighted beyond words,” before adding “It’s been too long, Susanna!”

Although he was overjoyed to be reunited with his former co-star, he did confess that the early start had been “painful”.

In 2016, Bill quit the BBC Breakfast after 15 years which came as a shock to many viewers.

Two years later, he confirmed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Bill wanted to use his platform on GMB to raise awareness and to encourage others to get checked.

Dr Hilary Jones joined in the discussion to highlight symptoms to look out for, urging that the “results of treatment by far outweigh” the risk.

The former BBC star has joined Susanna at ITV after Piers Morgan had handed in his notice following the bombshell interview with Meghan Markle.

Piers stormed off set after clashing with weather forecaster Alex Beresford and later refused to apologise for saying he didn’t believe Meghan.

Since his departure, GMB has seen a whole assortment of presenters join Susanna on the show, however a firm fixture is yet to be selected.

Since then, GMB has been filling Piers’ seat with an assortment of presenters, with ITV yet to confirm who will be his permanent replacement.

Speaking to The Sun, ahead of his appearance on the ITV breakfast show, Bill said: “Well, I’m not thinking, ‘What would Piers do about this, what would Piers do about that?’

“I’m just playing my own game.”

He had nothing but praise for his co-star Susanna, adding: “I love Susanna. We have a mutual respect and have known one another over 20 years.

“She is so talented, works very hard. And now that she’s getting more sunlight, she can blossom.”
