Harry Redknapp has spoken out on news his son Jamie is expecting his first baby with his girlfriend, Swedish model Frida Andersson.
The footie legend, 74, who shares two sons with his wife of over 50 years Sandra, admitted he was “excited” for his son, looking forward to welcoming another grandchild into the family.
Speaking out, Harry told TalkRadio: “‘Yeah I’m really pleased, it’s good news. So looking forward to that and it’s exciting times.
“I enjoy spending time with the grandkids, I love it, I really do.”
He added: “Going to watch them play football and sport… I love being there and turning up and watching the kids and taking them to football on Saturday.”
This will be Jamie’s third child, as he already shares two sons – Charley, 16, and Beau, 12 – with his ex-wife, singer Louise Redknapp.
Jamie and Louise, who tied the knot in 1998, announced they were parting ways in December 2017, after nearly two decades of marriage.
He started dating model Frida in 2020 after they were introduced by mutual friends, but have kept their relationship out of the spotlight.
Frida already has four children with her ex-partner, US hedge fund tycoon Jonathan Lourie.
The Scandinavian model appeared to confirm the baby news over the weekend when she replied to fans’ messages of congratulations.
However, neither Jamie nor Frida – who live together in Surrey – has yet to speak out publicly on the pregnancy.
Showbiz sweethearts Harry and Sandra tied the knot back in 1967, and have two sons together – Sky Sports pundit Jamie and model Mark.
The lovebirds, who occasionally make TV appearances together, met in their teens in a local pub, and have been inseparable ever since.
Praising their relationship during an interview with Hello! in 2019, Harry said: “She is so placid you couldn’t have a row with Sandra if you tried. If I ever do get uptight she goes, ‘Look at you, calm down.’
“And then five seconds later I have calmed down, and that’s it really. I know it might sound corny, but we very very very rarely have an argument – we really don’t, we get on great which is very lucky really.
“You are lucky to get on so well with someone and enjoy being with someone so much – I love being with Sandra – I love it, she’s my life!”
