Noel and Liam Gallagher scrap Oasis unreleased songs album amid ongoing spat

Liam and Noel Gallagher have decided to scrap the long-awaited Oasis Greatest Hits album amid their ongoing feud.

The Mancunian icons “couldn’t agree” on the direction the project was going in, and have decided to bin it entirely.

The album was set to feature an entire bonus disc crammed full of unreleased songs, B-sides and demos, as well as the main disc with all the best songs from the rock n’ roll band’s iconic Noughties era.

Noel told Record Collector: “You know that Don’t Stop demo that we put up? We had planned to do an Oasis ‘best of the 2000s’ because it’s a period of Oasis that the masses are not interested in but for the actual fans there’s some great tunes.

“Well, we did this best-of and the bonus disc was gonna be all these unreleased songs. But – ha!

“Unfortunately we couldn’t agree on something and it got dropped by the wayside.”

He also shed light on two tributes to The Beatles Oasis covered – a punk version of Eleanor Rigby and an “amazing” version of It’s All Too Much, recorded on the day George Harrison tragically died.

The album was also set to include collaborations with Yes drummer Alan White, and The Smiths guitar-man Johnny Marr.

But not to worry – Noel will instead be releasing 14 songs by himself which originally failed to make the cut on any Oasis records, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of him going solo.

His brother Liam will not be involved in the project.

And although it might not be the news Oasis fans were hoping for, they still have the Oasis documentary to look forward to, which will see the brothers reunite for a look back on their iconic Knebworth concert.

It’s set to be released later this year, and will tell the story of Oasis’ legendary gig before 250,000 fans.

It will be the brothers’ first project together since the band split in 2009.

The feature film will be directed by Jake Scott, the brains behind music videos for bands including Oasis, R.E.M., U2, The Verve and The Rolling Stones.

To which Liam replied: “It’s gonna happen.”

And the pair might have officially let bygones be bygones with the new documentary – but we’ll just have to wait and see if the Greatest Hits album ever makes its own comeback.
