Rita Ora has enlisted the help of BFF Charli XCX for her next single after a series of lacklustre chart positions.
Rita, 30, will feature on new song You For Me which was co-penned by Charli before the pandemic.
Insiders hope that the single will be a summer smash thanks to the production which is believed to be by DJ Sigala.
Sigala, whose real name is Bruce Fielder, most recent tracks featured James Arthur and Becky Hill.
They charted at number 10 and number 14 retrospectively.
In comparison, Rita’s past two singles have both failed to break into the top 50.
In March 2020 she released How To Be Lonely which peaked at number 57 before waiting until February this year to drop Big, which peaked at 53 and fell off the chart after just one week.
A source said: “Charli co-wrote You For Me a few years ago but never planned on it being for herself.
“She and Rita are best mates so naturally she loves that she is going to do her thing on it.”
It’s understood that the track will be a a Sigala single rather than a Rita single.
Rita’s last top ten hit came in October 2018 thanks to Let You Love Me.
The following year she also enjoyed two top 30 songs with collab Carry on and Ritual.
Speaking to Daily Star at the start of the pandemic, Rita insisted she hoped to release a third album but planned on dropping a series of tracks first.
She said: “I have so many songs that I have been writing since Phoenix so I am defiantly making an album.
“I feel honestly that is how music is going. You put out the songs that you like and then wow you have an album.
“I definitely have a lot of single options in the pipeline for sure.”
Despite her music career hitting trouble, Rita has been as busy as ever thanks to a string of TV deals.
As well as being a judge on ITV hit The Masked Singer, the starlet is currently living Down Under after bagging a mentor role on The Voice Australia.
